DIRECTIONS FROM WINDBURY BARN TO SOUTH WEST COASTAL PATH
We are located right in the middle of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.(AONB) and so all around us are lovely walks. There are some maps for your use. You can also buy some lovely little walking maps in the village post office.
To get to the coastal path ( about 5 mins walk) head to the National Trust Car Park off the lane (turn right as you leave the complex towards Fattacot Farm(by the bins) and it is first right. In the top left hand corner you will find a gap in the hedge to a footpath, follow this to a stile on to the farm lane head right and follow the lane to the end where there is a gate to the next field. To the left of this gate there is another stile, cross this and follow the left hand hedge and cross another stile into the next field. Keep following the hedge to the left and you will then come to the cliff top and be on the coastal path (signposted). It is about a 10 minute one and three quarter hours) and to the right takes you north to Clovelly (about two and a half hours). Please note that the path to Clovelly has some steep parts in places. If you are feeling strong you can continue to walk to the Hartland Quay Pub beyond Hartland Point but it is about 4 Hours and hilly (but beautiful) When we have done this, we always strategically place a car there in advance to get home. (If we are in we could always pick you up just ask - as there is no chance of you getting a Taxi!)
There is a short walk about 45 mins, perfect for a dog, marked on the map to the left.
A good source for the local walks can also be found on the Southwest Coast path Website (www.southwestcoastpath.org.uk/)
